As salaam aalaikum,
Many Shias say that being an "imam" is greater than being a prophet. They normally quote the following verse where Ibrahim (pbuh) prays to be an "imam" after he became a prophet.
>And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them. [Allah] said, "Indeed, I will make you an imam for the people." [Abraham] said, "And of my descendants?" [Allah] said, "My covenant does not include the wrongdoers." (Quran 2:124)
But in the following verse I feel that any Muslim believer can be an imam.
>And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an imam." (Quran 25:74)
From the above verse it seems that any Muslim can make the dua of being an "imam". Even Ibrahim (pbuh) was making a similar dua.
Furthermore, if we start reading the above verse in context of the 4-5 verses before, we notice it talks about repentance and turning a persons life around from sin and then making this dua to be an imam.
This simply implies that ANY sinner who turns his life around can make dua to be an "imam" as opposed to the concept of infallibility of imams.
So how does one bring together the idea that an "imam" is greater than a prophet when any Muslim can make dua to be a imam?
I would prefer Shia view, but the others are welcome to chime in.

hormonal issues which further deteriorates my mood and i have no control over my anger. will i be forgiven, i believe im the worst daughter and i will receive the same behaviour from my future kids as so i’ve heard. I have a question even if i have repented will i still suffer from my future kids ? and will they treat me like i treated my mother although i have changed?

The one instance in [Hafs 'an 'Asim](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafs) occurs in Surah Hud, [verse 41](https://quran.com/en/hud/41) , but where does the one instance in [Qalun 'an Nafi'](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qalun) occur? If it's the same verse, is the Qalun version of the imala recited in the same way as the one in Hafs? I would especially appreciate a link to a qari reciting the verse in Qalun as I've been unable to find one on YouTube.

- Allah knows that we humans are weak; so it should be unjust for him to torment all of his creatures. but what about creatures that can't disobey him (angels)?

My conclusion:
The fact that Allah **appreciates our efforts to obey him**, **appreciates that it isn't satisfying for us to obey Him all of the time** and **forgives us** is **mercy**, while **justice** is kind of robotic (you disobey, you get punished) and is not what we want, so thanks Allah for Your mercy.

Same question as here but for Islam. I don't see how a married couple's becoming step-siblings is any different from step-siblings' become a married couple.
Suppose Alice and Bob are widows (or single adoptive parents or unmarried biological parents or whatever) and their respective children are Charlie and Dalia. Supposed all 4 are not married (or were never married or whatever, depends if widow or not).
If Alice and Bob marry, then Charlie and Dalia cannot marry. But if Charlie and Dalia marry, then can Alice and Bob marry afterwards?

Where does this belief originate from? What evidences do we have from Quran and hadith that hell is temporary for Muslims, but eternal for all others?

I was wondering if the punishment for rape is stoning. This includes the situations where the rapist or rape victim is married or not (meaning if the rape is also an act of adultery or just fornication the punishment would be the same). I was looking at Sunan Abi Dawud 4379. The Hadith is graded as Hasan, but according to Al-bani it only qualifies as Hasan if you remove any mention of stoning from the Hadith. But there is another version of the same hadith that is graded as Hasan even with the inclusion of stoning [Jami at-Tirmidhi 1454]. So do these hadiths indicate that stoning is the punishment for rape [any kind of rape].

It's long been my dream to be a pastry chef. I haven't told my parents yet, but I recently told my older brother. He respected my interests, but he doesn't completely welcome the idea.
He pointed out that pastry includes working with alcohol (certain recipes ask for a dash of wine etc). I am fully aware of this, but of course, I do not intend to use alcoholic substances in any form if ever I decide to pursue a career in pastry and baking.
So my exact question is: is it possible to pursue pastry, even though I will sometimes have to use alcohol while learning in class? (Whenever possible, I will certainly use a substitute ingredient)
