I've been seeking for answer and asking some advice related to this problem, but I haven't found the answer yet. In my country, we are superstitious about the belief that if our biological mother is angry and talk something bad to their children i.e. cursing, the curse would turn out to be real. I have this friend of mine and I want to help him to convince that curse is not real. He used to be a bad person, he said it himself, and when he was 14, he realised that Islam is the only religion he could devote to. He does his prayer 5 times a day without absence, He started to memorize Quran. And what it does matter is, he is always unlucky. He blames himself that once his mother ever cursed him and I don't want him to think that there's no hope anymore. I'm afraid if he wouldn't trust Islam anymore, because he's been very religious from what I could see. What should he do? Is there any advice to help him? Quran or Hadith recitation related to this topic would be appreciated.

For ghusl janabat to be valid, is standing in the shower sufficient or do you have to physically rub your entire body with water? I know the steps are below but I am trying to clarify step 5 as I have bad ocd. Thank you 1. Form the intention in the heart to purify oneself from major impurity: janabah (impurity following sexual discharge), menses or nifas (postpartum bleeding). 2. Then say Bismillah and wash the hands three times, then wash any dirt from the private part. 3. Then do wudu as for prayer, a complete wudu. 4. Then pour water over the head three times, and rub the hair so that the water reaches the roots of the hair. 5. Then wash the body, making sure that the water reaches all parts, starting with the right side of the body and then the left, and rubbing it with the hands so that the water reaches the entire body.

Why is Interest such a bad thing according to Islam?

Source of quoted texts: islamqa.com . > "Those who eat Ribaa will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) > except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaytaan (Satan) > leading him to insanity. That is because they say: "Trading is only > like Riba," whereas Allaah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba. > So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating > Riba, shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allaah (to > judge); but whoever returns (to Riba), such are the dwellers of the > Fire — they will abide therein" --- > And it was proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be > upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it. > Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5962. In the transaction asked about here, > both the individual and the bank are giving and taking riba. The > Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A dirham > which a man consumes as riba knowingly is worse before Allaah than > thirty-six acts of zina.” Narrated by Ahmad and al-Tabaraani; classed > as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 3375. And he said: > “There are seventy-two types of riba, the least of which is like a man > committing incest with his mother.” Narrated by al-Tabaraani in > al-Awsat; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. > 3537. Assuming Riba here means Interest, similar to the Interest you receive in a bank savings account. I can clearly see that we have been told that Interest is one hell of a bad thing. What I can't see is why? Why is Interest such a bad thing other than the above facts what we have been told it's bad. Why exactly is receiving 1% interest on your savings so bad that its thirty-six times worse than zina? If I have $100 USD in my bank account, and at the end of that year I have a total of $101 USD in my account because the bank account gave me 1% interest, that seems so harmless compared to thirty-six acts of zina... So that $1 of interest received after a whole year is comparable to thirty-six acts of zina? Don't get me wrong, I accept that Interest is haraam, I accept that we have been told that it is haraam, but why is it such a big evil? If I could hold both evils in my hands, the $1 USD of Interest looks so minor compared to committing incest with your mother... I am basically looking for an answer, which explains how $1 USD of interest after a year can be compatible to committing incest with your mother. Committing incest with your mother is such an evil act, but taking $1 USD of interest from the bank is such a minor thing, no one is harmed in such a transaction. So my question, why is Interest such a bad thing according to Islam? Sunni view preferred please.

I am in desperate need of advising. Recently, I have been connecting more with my religion and it’s never felt better. But something has come to my attention that is causing me a serious amount of distress. Astrology is something that is becoming so popular all over the world. Some believe it while others just look it up for fun. I never had a belief in it but like others, I thought it was fun but wasn’t really all about it as others were. One time, I saw the criticizing of Astrology from an Islamic perspective a while ago, and by thought that surely it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t actually take it seriously, right? Then a long time later, I found out that Astrology is Shirk by one article, and I was completely taken aback and treaded such areas carefully. I thought that surely there was an misunderstanding, because I don’t think I knew what that word actually meant—I thought it meant the active belief of the existence of more than one God, which I have obviously never believed. Still, I remained cautious. Then, after a short while, many girls in my class were having a discussion about their zodiac signs. Many of them had a similar one so they had this long and elaborate discussion. I was very weary, but utterly lost because these girls were not only Muslim, but they were born and raised in a Muslim country. They only felt the need to clarify that they didn’t believe in Palm-reading and had only done it once for fun. This is also common. I was so confused at this point and thought to myself, if these very much practicing Muslim girls are saying these things, then surely I am mistaken, and it was not Shirk. I laughed when they made jokes in the conversation and they asked me for mine but I wasn’t really contributing much. Still, I remained cautious of the topic and refused to approach it. My brother also told me it was Shirk. After a while, I heard of many other examples of Shirk I didn’t know about, like putting your wedding ring on your ring finger. I am now realizing how many incidents there have been that could’ve been Shirk in my life, which I never thought to be Shrik, especially because I was raised in a western country. I am absolutely terrified at the moment. I have never believed that there was another god than Allah and inshallah never will. But I cannot get this out of my brain. I can also not get out of my brain how many people believe this is unforgivable. I know we should never limit the mercy of Allah, but do we know that this can be forgiven?

Why was I born, according to Islam? In fact, I also have a second component to this question. If Allah/God is omniscient, then why did he create beings that he knew were certain to enter hell (which he also created)? Even assuming he gave us 'free will', he **knew** when he created us who would end up 'choosing' hell. So why would he create them? Is this not injustice? I kindly ask for answers in light of the Quran and Sunnah, as to distinguish this question from merely delving into philosophy.

To take the definition of Murabaha from Wikipedia: > This concept refers to the sale of goods at a price, which includes a profit margin agreed to by both parties. The purchase and selling price, other costs, and the profit margin must be clearly stated at the time of the sale agreement. The bank is compensated for the time value of its money in the form of the profit margin. This is a fixed-income loan for the purchase of a real asset (such as real estate or a vehicle), with a fixed rate of profit determined by the profit margin. The bank is not compensated for the time value of money outside of the contracted term (i.e., the bank cannot charge additional profit on late payments); however, the asset remains as a mortgage with the bank until the default is settled. The "profit margin" is fixed, the purchase and selling price is fixed. In other words, it's reselling something of equal value at a higher price. The definition of Riba (from Wikipedia) is an increase in capital without any services provided and speculation. A definition of Riba, as provided in Sahih Muslim, Book 10, Chapter 19, Number 3846: > Nafi' reported that Ibn 'Umar told him that a person of the tribe of Laith said that Abu Sa'id al-Kludri narrated it (the above-mentioned hadith) from tile Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) in a narration of Qutaiba. So 'Abduliali and Nafi' went along with him, and in the hadith transmitted by Ibn Rumh (the words are) that Nafi' said: 'Abdullah (b.'Umar) went and I along with the person belonging to Banu Laith entered (the house) of Sa'id al-Khudri, and he ('Abdullah b. Umar) said: I have been informed that you say that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) forbade the sale of silver with silver except in case of like for like, and sale of gold for gold except in case of like for like. Abu Sa'id pointed towards this eyes and his ears with his fingers and said: My eyes saw, and my ears listened to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) saying: **Do not sell gold for gold, and do not sell silver for silver except in case of like for like, and do not increase something of it upon something,** and do not sell for ready money something, not present, but hand to hand.

Is there any verse in Quran that suggests all humans are made equal (equal in the sense of what they are given in the world, the hardships would face and other things combined making each person equal)? For example, one of the person is given high wealth but has some other thing less (like he has less good relationships) like he is being tested. There is another person who has less wealth but has great relationships and is also being tested. Together if you see both they both are given equal in life.

As-salamu alaykum, I am curious to know whether the marriage would be valid if the couple were to go off and have their nikkah with an imaam without any approval from parents on both sides. Back story: I (female) am not ready to tell my parents about getting married as the person I want to get married too is not stable enough and has only just graduated from university however I do know my parents will give their approval He knows his parents will not accept the marriage as it will be an interracial marriage therefore wants to make sure he is financially stable and has his own place before telling his parents as he knows they will kick him out. If we was to get have a nikkah without telling both our families would it be valid and then later on telling our parents and having a wedding to make it “official” to everyone else

Salam brothers & sisters For 3 days now I haven’t been sleeping very well. I feel like at night someone is in my room and I feel like sometimes I hear noises or whispering but can’t make out what it is. Also there’s a few times I felt someone blowing cold air in my face. I have read Surah al bakara, Ayatul Kursk and the last 3 surahs in the Quran. I admit that I don’t pray regularly and I’ve only been reciting duas and listening to the Quran before I sleep. I still feel like there is someone in the room and feel scared at night sleeping alone so I sleep with the lights on. On top of that for the last 5yrs I have been suffering from stress, depression and anxiety. Low mood and low energy. I procrastinate a lot and my concentration and memory is poor. I don’t like being around anyone and don’t feel motivated. I eat a lot of junk food and my hair falls out a lot. I also don’t sleep very well. Should I go and get Rukya done ?

Assalamu Alaikum Brothers in Islam, Allah Ta'ala Says in the Holy Qur'an : > "And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and > His Throne had been upon water " [Qur'an 11:7] And Allah's Messenger Muhammed (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said : > "Abdullah b. 'Amr b. al-'As reported: > > I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah ordained the measures > (of quality) of the creation fifty thousand years before he created > the heavens and the earth, as **His Throne was upon water**." [Sahih Muslim [2653\]][1] It is unanimously agreed that the Throne and the Water predated the creation of the heavens and earth. My Question is : Did Allah create the heavens and earth from the water? As in, was the '*Water*' that existed before the heavens and the earth, the primordial material from which Allah created the heavens and the earth? If yes, please give me citation from sources. Some of the scholars spoke about this but i'm unable to find concrete references and sources. Jazak Allahu Khayrun
