>The deputation of ‘Abd al-Qais asked (the prophet):From which(vessels)should we drink ? He (the prophet) replied: Do not drink from the pumpkins, vessels smeared with pitch, and hollow stumps , and steep dates in skins. They asked: Messenger of Allah, if it ferments? He replied: infuse water in it. They asked: Messenger of Allah...” (repeating the same words). He replied to them third or fourth time: Pour it away. He then said: Allah has forbidden me, or he said: He has forbidden me wine, game of chance and kubah(drums). He said: Every intoxicant is unlawful. Sufyan said: I asked ‘All b. Badhimah about kubah . He replied: Drum.

*side note, (الدُّبَّاءِ) *dubba'e* is not a pumpkin per-se but more precisely calabash or long melon because pumpkins were not discovered until Columbus in the 15th century. A bit of an anachronism since the hadith takes place 1,400 years ago.

I am a MD radiologist. To give some context I live in a non Muslim majority country. I work in a hospital 6 days a week. In our department there are 5 radiologist including me. Only 1 of them is female and rest all are male. And I am the only muslim there. I chose radiology because I had a good rank and it is also the top sought profession with a small closing rank.
Now our typical day involves CT scan, MRI, USG not only of pregnancy but also to evaluate organs like the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and pancreas, to examine muscles, tendons, and joints, Vascular ultrasound,Thyroid ultrasound, Pediatric ultrasound, Cardiac ultrasound (echocardiogram), Prostate ultrasound, Other Ultrasound-guided procedures. Now we do have a good patient load hence everyone is busy. For female reproductive part disease related and breast related issues the female radio handles it almost 99% of time and also there is patient preference in this case. Rest work is done by division of labour.
Now as far as how work is concerned there is a male and a female attendent for respective genders regardless of the doctor's gender they do all covering, uncovering positioning, etc. We keep a device on belly(for ultrasonography) or the parts(for other disorders, not pelvis and breast for me) and it captures the image(so no direct physical contact), I study and report. A or two family member is always present and the attended is also there for full time.
I always keep my gaze lowered, don't look anything more or less than what area is required, nor go in excess talking with women. Sometimes there is emergency for female patients and I by duty have to attend it(we have divided work load).
Am I sinful for operating on female patients, like ultrasonography or say artery blockage in hand, broken bone or blockage in back?

What kind of condition are invalid in a nikah contract? Can not having intercourse be a condition?

Before asking my question I need to explain what made me ask it:
Often when in a Muslim community a new revert/convert (in the cases I witnessed always female) came. The Muslims always gave (her) the advice to get married with a practicing Muslim of the other gender.
So what if for some reasons one of this future spouses only agrees for this marriage to make a good deed, so the intention isn't to get married in the obvious way, but to help the other to learn as quick as possible more about Islam and how to practice things according this religion. So the purpose of this marriage is creating a legal mahram contact where both could be together.
Note that I've often encountered marriages where the husband needed somebody to care for him, these were arranged marriages were a younger lady married an old for example blind man to take care from him. Apparently such marriages were "Building a family" isn't the main goal seem accepted.
I guess if somewhere deep inside the idea of a future divorce exists this could be considered as nikah al-muta' by some scholars. And therefore this condition might not be accepted for nikah. But I assume that it is possible to get married without the intention of being physical whether or or not this can be placed in a marriage contract can be discussed.
Also verses of the Qur'an and the prophetic traditions rather invite us to get married and have children, which is excluded by this condition!
- So can such a condition be valid?
- In any case: **What kinds of conditions are not valid for 'aqd an-nikah**? (ruling?)
- Assuming this condition is valid, what if the spouses later want to be together as real spouses and have children must they divorce or re-write the 'aqd, what is the correct solution?
----------
At least this fatwa (only available in Arabic so far islamqa #220804 ) seems to say that delaying to have children (or pregnancy) can be a valid condition. Even if the fatwa says that the husband should convince his future wife to have children, as this is recommended by shari'a.

How should one get married if they have committed sexual immoralities?
I am a muslim male. When I was a child a person older than me had anal sex with me several times. When I was a teenager I had oral sex with one of my cousins. Does that make me a fornicator? According to Quran 24:3 A fornicator does not marry except a fornicator. How can I get married?

Last night I repented sincerely to allah, with a grief saken heart, crying , and recited many suras and many duas also prayed to him to show me a divine dream . That same night before fajr ,I saw myself reading Qur'an but I was not on earth , a lady was teaching me this, I learnt in the dream only that she is mother maryam and while reading there I read the word "Isa" and isa ibn maryam (AS)came to me !!! And we descended onto a ground I know and where I use to play , there were three men there , as I can recall one was a jew , one christian and other one's religion i don't know . Then I invited them to islam with hand pointing to the sky (☝️) and arm streched showing god is one he is allah , and said -"oh people will you still deny the truth?" . Prophet isa stood to the right of me , he looked similar to I've seen on internet but I can't recall his face, but his long hair and body, even dress I can recall , he was wearing robes . And then after that very , very peaceful dream, I woke up and shortly after the fajr Azan began! It was such a peaceful dream and I can tenderly recall hearing names of Mother Aisha and prophet Muhammad in that exact same dream!

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah (Volume 1, Page 391, Hadith 3946): It is narrated that some of the companions, including Abdullah ibn Zubayr and Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, prayed with their hands at their sides. The report goes:
"عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: كَانَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ إِذَا صَلَّى تَرَكَ يَدَيْهِ، وَلَمْ يَضَعْ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى."

Please tell me if any of those companions including Abdullah ibn zubayr praying with hands on side is authentic or not. jazakAllahu khayrann

My school had already asked a local Sheikh and he said it would be permissible to pray earlier. My friends are concerned about the source. Would it be permissible to pray Jummah earlier due to our circumstance?

I was feeling extreme thirst while fasting today. I did not feel sick but I woke up only one hour before suhoor and I did not get to drink that much water. I had thoughts about breaking my fast to drink some or to drink a little and then continue fasting. I wasn't sure but after a while I was about to, and then later on I changed my mind. I asked people online about it and when someone told me it is not a valid reason to, I decided not to and to just wait until maghrib. I am now continuing with my fast but I'm concerned if thinking this already broke it. Is my fast still valid?

Assalam Alaikum.
I work as a laborer in a warehouse. My daily task is to physically pick and handle boxes containing food. These boxes are then placed on pallets, and later those pallets are transported by truck to stores for customers to buy.
- About 15% of the boxes I pick and handle **daily** contain **pork**. I don't physically touch the pork, but the box containing it.
- About 10% of meat products like beef, lamb and chicken are not labelled halal - status is unknown.
- The remainder 75% are non - meat products like vegetables and bread.
I have to pick and handle these boxes that contain pork, and I am unable to avoid this - it is part of my job and I have to do it and I do this everyday I am there. Handling pork is mandatory in this role. I am not in sales, ownership, or management. I am manual labor / logistics. **I am paid a wage for labor**, not commission or pork sales.
1. Do I have to leave this job? Is it haram? I do not want to do any other role in this company but this role.
2. Is my income haram? If so, how much? All of it or only the percentage of pork?
I am **not** in **necessity** or in dire need. I have money saved up and can live comfortably and find an alternative job.
If you can please help me with this and give me some guidance with references I will greatly appreciate it.
Thank you very much.

There are some divine laws which are decreed, and I don’t like them because, I can’t do things I liked.
I have told about this to my Christian mother, and she told me that this means that I rise up against God if I don’t like some divine laws.
I have also asked my Muslim father regarding this, and he said that it is not an act of disbelief to dislike some divine laws.
And another Muslim told me 99% correct as my mother told me.
What confuses me is that, both they differently then one another, and I can’t tell who’s right or wrong, and I don’t know if **by disliking some divine laws entails an act of disbelief? Yes or no? If yes, where’s the clear proof?**
Because, I’ve told my mother that I don’t have the intention to rise up against God, I’m a nobody to do this. And she insist by telling me that, even though you think that you do not have this intention, still it is an act of disbelief.
The reason for disliking some divine laws is because, it makes me feel uncomfortable, and I’m obligated to stay away from doing things I like.
Can someone please give me a concrete information regarding this issue? Because, I have this problem for long time.
I can’t tell why and how this is definitely an act of disbelief.

My question is; is it permissible for one to shave his beard in case of coercion in the form of parents threatening to divorce over it (it is silly yes but there are some mentally unstable people like that) and/or the threat of being kicked out of those house into streets (when the threat is real, ie: when someone has already been kicked out for a short while for the reason of not shaving their beard.)
