I mean from a scholarly perspective, not advocating what proper practice is, but how different contemporary Muslims are from each other, and in what proportions. For example, what estimated percentage of Muslims say they believe the Qur’an is to be observed word for word, vs. those who believe in lenient reinterpretation? (I know one person who has attained some level of position in their mosque, maybe an imam, who said “You have to keep in mind it was written 1000 years ago.”)

As I understand, the status of Dhimmi can be enjoyed by any non-Muslim religion as far it has a pact or treaty with the Islamic government were it lives and recognizes the authority (submits if you will) by among other things paying Jizya. But as I have notice most historical examples were this happened refer to pre-existing religions such as Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism. Thus I wonder, to post-Islam religions can also be included on this deal? Cases like Sikhism, Bahaism, Mormonism, Rastafarianism, Wicca, Asatru and neo-Paganism in general, etc.? Or there will be something precluding such deals and/or against accepting Jizya from such movements as they came after the founding of Islam?

How to repay a debt

I was asking here what can be done if I have a debt, and I do not know how to find the person I owe. Praise be to Allah, I was answered. They said that it was necessary to repent and, if possible, do charity work. But I have this question. My sister owes me money. If I forgive her part of the debt, will I also be able to close the other debt? Or not? And more. Here, as a thank you, is it possible to close the debt by donating online? That is, to throw money to a certain charitable foundation?

In [Surat Al-Baqarah ayah 62](http://quran.com/2/62) , Allah (The Glorified) says; enter image description here > Sahih International
Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews > or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] - those [among > them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - > will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be > concerning them, nor will they grieve. Who were (or are?) the people called الصابئين according to this ayah, and what makes them relevant in the context of this ayah? How are they similar with Jews or Christians? I assume similarity because they were mentioned alongside Jews and Christians.

How can something be created from fire?

[Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire > and created him from clay [i.e., earth]." How can something be created from fire? Fire is not matter. Fire is a result of oxidation manifested in heat and light. Fire can't exist unless you burn something, so what does it mean to be made from fire? I could grasp it if it was by or with fire, but understanding how something can be made **from** fire is difficult for me.

I also don’t know any scholars that do. I know that you must know if the person is engaged in haram and among other things in order to interpret. However I’m interested in dream interpretation and want to earn a degree in this field. I really want to earn something so that I can show my mosques in my area or near my area that I have a degree in this and I’m willing to do this to interpret their dream. Also I want to earn a degree or learn courses related to other things in Islam.

Are the deeds still valid as long as one doesn't die not repenting beforehand?

Can one give the name of an angel to a child? Is Mikael a suitable name?
My name is Mikael and I am getting paranoid if this is actually a permissible Islamic/Arabic name or not? I come from a Muslim family and my mother always told me it is taken from an angels name. But I always look at lists of Muslim names online and I can never see my name, or at least my spelling.

It is not immediately clear whether there is one Islam or many Islams. If it is singular then the task is to identify which of the many competing claims to adopt as true Islam. By singularity of Islam I do not mean singularirty of interpretation. Of course there can be room for differences within Islam. But my questions is, is or are there fundamental elements of Islam that are not up for interpretation or where a difference of opinion simply cannot occur without rendering Islam a plural religion. By plural Islam I mean that any Muslim can define Islam as they see fit.

As-Salam-Wa-Laikum. I've a question related to masturbation. I know, Masturbation is Haram. But, here's my situation. I'm married for 23 years but for many years, I don't get excited for my wife and she also can't make me excited. She thinks, it's my part to make her ready and myself too. However, for many years, I forcefully make myself available to make her satisfy - **which is my duty**. But, I don't get satisfied and I don't get it done. I make myself cold forcefully without completing my satisfaction. My question is, ***is it permissible to do masturbation in such a situation*** (after making my wife satisfied, which make her tired and she can't take it anymore)? I need to do something to make my brain cold but I don't know what to do? I live in U.S. and I can't take a second wife nor do I want to divorce her.

As a Jewish child living in America in the 1970s, I had heard from my teacher that there was another religion called Islam that also believed in one God just as we did. So my natural question was what is the difference between Islam and Judaism? I never got a good answer to the question, perhaps because I didn’t know any Muslims. As an adult, it is clear to me that there are many differences in customs and laws between Jews and Muslims, but the beliefs about God are exactly the same - that God is One, perfect unity, omnipresent, and omnipotent. I found the following link https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/1012030/jewish/The-Contrast-Between-Isaac-and-Ishmael.htm from Chabad website. From this, I have the following hypothesis - Judaism is a super-rational monotheistic religion, while Islam is a rational monotheistic religion. And this the core difference between the two religions. My question is is my hypothesis correct? Addendum to question: By request, I will expand on what I mean by rational and super rational: If one looks at some of the things that religious Jews do, for instance wearing phylacteries, affixing parchment scrolls to doorposts, males wearing strings on four cornered garments, not wearing wool and linen together, not turning on lights or driving on the Sabbath, one is at a loss for the reasons for these actions. And these are not just customs but are fundamental duties commanded by God to the Israelites in the Torah. Because these actions seem to not have a rational basis, I call Judaism super rational. However, according to my superficial understanding of Islam, I never get the impression that it super rational, but that it is very rational. For instance, it is easy to give logical explanations for all five pillars of Islam - prayer is logical if one believes in God, charity is logical if one seeks the welfare of his community, pilgrimage to Mecca is logical since this is where things started for Islam, proclaiming one’s faith is logical since it establishes clarity in one’s beliefs, fasting is logical since it helps a person come closer to God. This is why I ask my question to determine if my hypothesis is correct about the core difference between Judaism and Islam.

Salam I hope this finds you well. I have a question and hope you can provide and advice for me. My father and I were never close growing up I’ve always been the one to kind of force the relationship between us. It has come to a point where I don’t really care about our relationship as long as I’ve done my duties in Islam I’m good with it. Our relationship wasn’t only not there it became bad because he is terrible to my mom and I hear him insults her I’ve never seen him beat her but I’ve seen scars and broken things around the house.and he now he feels like I’ve sooo much resentment towards him that he feels I’m disrespectful towards and I can swear by Allah I’ve never done anything to hurt him purposely or disrespect and I try to keep my distance so I don’t give him chance to complain again but whenever I do that I get labeled as an ungrateful child because I don’t appreciate him being on earth, when I cry he calls me and yells whenever I try to do something to protect my self I get labeled as a bad person and he always use allah’s word to manipulate me into thinking I’m a bad person and I try my best to make both my parents happy so my question here is do I have to relate with my father without cutting ties?is it okay to have a relationship with him ne within a distance even is he complains or is it haram? And please I need advice on how to move on with my life without hurting him or myself
