Ibn Sina or Avicenna is one of the greatest Muslim philosophers that left indelible impressions on the Western Philosophy. Not only that Avicenna had contributed immensely to the field of medicine, which continues to benefit the field of modern medicine. Although he comes from today's Uzbekistan, which is part of Central Asia, he is generally considered to be a great scholar of the Persian world.
My question is mainly to the Sunni Muslims. Whether ibn Sina's [Avicenna] religious views are compatible with the Quranic teachings or not. Which ones agree and which ones do not with the teachings of the Quran? why?

In this hadith:
> "The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Last night a big demon (afreet) from the Jinns came to me and wanted to interrupt my prayers (or said something similar) but Allah enabled me to overpower him. I wanted to fasten him to one of the pillars of the mosque so that all of you could See him in the morning but I remembered the statement of my brother Solomon (as stated in Quran): My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me a kingdom such as shall not belong to anybody after me (38.35)." The sub narrator Rauh said, "He (the demon) was dismissed humiliated." (Sahih Bukhari )
Why did Prophet Muhammad (saw) quote that particular verse in this incident? And do we know why and how the demon was humiliated?

I am aware that that there has been some scientific research on the use of psychedelic for mental disorders but other than the US, and anyway as a last resort, it seems impossible to have medical supervision for it.
I have found myself (before conversion) extraordinary benefits and no side effects whatsoever of "self psychedelic therapy", managing to overcome some very serious issues such as decade long depression, addiction,... Yet, there are issues I am still working on.
On the other hand traditional therapy such as psychotherapy, or prescription drugs, always failed with me.
It seems the Quran doesn't talk about medical use of psychedelics but scholars interpret it the way it is "halal" if under medical supervision.
**But if the medical supervision is impossible to get (for example in most or all of EU), does Quran still say it's forbidden, no matter the documented (and self experienced) benefits?**

In hadiths, how do you know when "knowledge" means religious knowledge or any knowledge?

I've come across insincere approaches from two sides, where one side claim every mention of knowledge is only referring to religious knowledge, whereas other side does the opposite. Yet in some case neither have any good justification for their claim. And in most one side is correct based on reasonable conclusion derived from context.

Recently I have heard about this narration in a local gathering but the speaker did not give any references nor did he elaborate on this specific Hadith.
**Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The child of adultery is worst of the three.**
It was used when the speaker was talking about Zina and the negative effects of it to the society.
I am having a hard time understanding this as the literal meaning tends to suggest that the innocent child born is also blame worthy.
Can someone please clarify this hadith and explain what exactly am I missing here?.

How should I behave, when reading tafsir as a layman? I really wanted to know that.
Sometimes, if I look up an explanation of a verse I see different opinions of different scholars. Am I allowed to prefer one of them (as a layman) and choose one of the opinions for my understanding with trust to the scholars?
Sometimes they list different opinions like in one example in Surah Maryam. There were tafsirs (like in Ibn Al-Jawzi’s tafsir, turkish translation), who list the opinions about the Harun, mentioned in one of the verses (19:28). I already read all the answers, but what should I take along from the list as a layman?
But attention, I’m not asking the Harun in the mentioned verse. It’s just an example. I’m asking the etiquettes of reading tafsirs and dealing with differences of opinions.

Sunni have narrations indicating prohibition of voluntary worship during sunrise and sunset.
And narrations mentioning the sunrise and sunset occurring between horns of devil.
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the edge of the sun rises, avoid prayer until it becomes prominent; and if the edge of the sun disappears, avoid prayer until it sets. And do not offer your prayer at the time of sunrise or sunset, for it rises between two horns of a devil – or the devil."

salam,
I was with friends and one of them (not muslim) asked me : why, you muslims, do not eat porc ? Did you question yourself..Etc
Well, I heard about some scientific research saying that the porc meat/fat contains some microscopic thigs that are not good for health, but I was not sure, plus science is so not "stable" thing, today something is good for health, tomorrow it's the worst thing ever..
So I didn't want to speak about what I do not know/master. I just said, sometime I do not ask questions, and I do not have enough knowledge, so I prefer to avoid to eat it till the day I will know why.
So WHY ? why we do not eat porc, is it a clear verse in quran that explains why ? is there a known reason ?
Thank you

Why does quran says mountains were cast from above(من فوقھا) in 41:10?

Need an answer to this argument made by an atheist site:
First Scientific Mistake of Quran: Allah 'placed'/'cast' mountains over earth's surface
(Quran 41:10)
وجعل فيها رواسي من فوقها
(Quran Word by Word Translation by Quran Corpus) And He placed in it stabilisers (i.e. mountains) from above (من فوقها).
(Word for Word Dr. Shehnaz Shaikh) And He placed therein firmly-set mountains from above it.
So according to quran mountains were cast into the earth from uphill trajectory.
According to the modern science, mountains are not 'placed'/'cast' over earth's surface, but they are formed when two plates tectonics collide with each other (i.e. when earthquake takes place), then crust of one plate goes upwards and forms a mountain, while the crust of other plate goes downwards.

The word seems to mean "a few". I want to know the basis of translating it to "three to nine", with primary sources.

How to properly do dua?
I would just get on my knees and just start asking, but I have been told that I have to send blessings to the prophet (pbuh) or it won't be valid. That I should thank Allah swt first then bless the prophet (pbuh), confess a sin and then start asking. I just feel like I been making dua wrong.
