Is the shaytan released right before Eid or after?

There are numerous examples in the hadith literature referring to the fact that during the month of Ramadan, the shaytan is chained. For example, as narrated by Abu Hurayrah and transmitted through Bukhari, > [Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."](http://www.sunnah.com/bukhari/30/9) This does however leave me with a question regarding this tradition: When is the shaytan released from hell? Is it right before or after the Eid day?

“Verily, they are greatly tortured in their graves and the animals hear it” [Musnad Ahmed]. What's the punishment and wouldn't all of us be punished? Bodies being slowly eaten and rotting? Also isn't this a contradiction to the hadith?: "You cannot make the dead hear, you cannot make the deaf listen to your call when they turn their backs and leave." (Qur'an 27:80) "The living and the dead are not the same. Allah makes anyone He wills hear, you cannot make those in their graves hear." (Qur'an 35:22) "And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, "They are dead." Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not." Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “The view of the salaf (earliest generations) of this ummah and its imams is that the torment or blessing (of the grave) happens to the soul of the deceased and his body. After it departs from the body, the soul continues to be blessed or punished, and it is also connected to the body from time to time, so that the blessing or torment befalls the body as well as the soul.” Al-Nawawi said: “If it is said, we see the deceased and how he is in his grave, so how can he be questioned, made to sit up and beaten with iron rods, when no mark is left on him? The answer is that this is not impossible, and indeed there is a similar case in our regular lives, that of the sleeper who feels joy or pain of which we feel nothing. A person who is awake may also feel joy or pain because of something he hears or thinks about, and those who are sitting with him feel nothing of that. Similarly, Jibreel used to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and tell him of the Wahy (Revelation), and the people present were unaware of it. All of that is clear and evident.” **That explanation makes no sense, because there is no more brain material left.** I see a good way to prevent the punishment in the grave. Behead the person, cremate the head and now since there isn't single brain cell left we all good! Am I correct or incorrect in saying this?

NewMuslims.com lists five qualities Muslim men should look for when seeking a wife: 1. Taqwa (piety), 2. Affectionate nature, 3. Obedience, 4. Patience, 5. Contentment. If a Muslim woman was interested in a particular man becoming her future husband, it would therefore be good for her to demonstrate these qualities to him. It seems difficult to demonstrate a willingness to become an obedient wife, however. **Question**: How can a Muslim woman indicate her willingness to be an obedient wife to a prospective husband? My impression is that Muslim men seem to value obedience. RomanticMuslim.com 7 Things Your Muslim Husband Won’t Tell You writes "above all, he desires your respect" and even quotes Qur'an 3:43 "...So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband’s] absence what Allah would have them guard...".

*A Wife's Rebellion Against Her Husband* is major sin 47 in al-Dhahabi's *Major Sins* (pdf ). Generally, this is interpreted as meaning any sharia-compliant instruction: > Obedience is the first right that Islam acknowledges for the husband over his wife. She is required to obey him in everything unless he commands her to do an act of disobedience. > IslamWeb Doing otherwise is being rebellious. Generally, there's an underlying assumption that the husband is being a reasonable Muslim, and he has his wife's best interests in mind. If there's a foreseeable risk of some path leading to sin, then we're encouraged to avoid it. If a woman foresees becoming a rebellious wife, it seems like the woman should avoid getting married, but this goes against the sunnah. **Question**: Should a woman avoid getting married out of fear of becoming a rebellious wife? For example, a career woman could have her career destroyed (along with a lifetime of hard work) when her husband decides he wants her to focus on housework, cooking, and sex. Such a woman might refuse to sacrifice her life, thereby becoming rebellious.

I hear the word *should* used a lot and its meaning can be vague. To illustrate how many times this occurs, from the single article Forty Hadiths for Women , the word *should* appears in: > woman **should** take the permission of her husband before going out; women **should** not travel without mahram; women **should** have their own entrance to the mosque; women **should** not walk in the middle of the street; women **should** perform tawaf without mingling with men; men **shouldn’t** enter freely into private places where foreign women are; women **should** have their own learning venues; women **should** not carry funeral; women **should** not take off their clothes outside their homes; woman **should** not describe another woman to her husband; women **should** not speak unnecessarily in the presence of foreign men; a woman **should** not be married against her will; a woman **should** not ask for divorce without a reason; woman **should** be grateful to her husband; woman **should** not obey her husband if ordered to do a sin; woman **should** not donate from her money unless upon husband’s consent; woman **should** help her husband and his dependants; husband **should** provide for wife and children; woman **should** not wear tight clothes; woman **should** not wear false hair like Jews; woman **should** not lie and adopt falsehood; women **should** not wear high shoes; women **should** cover her face in the presence of foreign men; women **should** not show their ornaments to foreign men; women **should** not imitate men in dress, movements, and way of speech. If we compare, e.g.: a. "woman *should* not obey her husband if ordered to do a sin", with
b. "women *should* not walk in the middle of the street" we see the level of obligation is significantly different, but there is no corresponding change in phrasing. So I can't tell which of these things are actually important without studying the Qur'an, hadith, tafsir, and fatwa in detail, which takes time. And I'd need to do this for every one of these claims. **Question**: How can I practically determine what *should* means? Specifically, I'm seeking practical steps for those times when someone tells me or I read *you should XYZ*, and I want to know (a) if it's true and accurate, and (b) gauge the level of obligation.

I want to know why in Islam a wife must obey her husband with the exception of doing sinful acts. What affords her husband the right to command her at all times ( with the exception of that which is prescribed by religion)?

I am in the United States and manage a team of data scientists, one of whom is a Muslim woman originally from Egypt. She wears a hijab (or an Al-Amira...I am not sure the difference). I would like to get the team an end of year gift and was thinking a t-shirt sports jersey with name and number on the back, company logo on the front. As I've never seen her wear a t-shirt I wasn't sure this was appropriate and want to make sure that whatever gift I give would be appropriate and something she could enjoy. Of course, I could just ask her, but wanted this to be a surprise for the team...so thought I would ask this group first. Thank you for any advice you can provide.

Hello everybody I am a muslim women. I have been talking with someone, a man. He was hitting on me but I told him I can't date if I have no intention marrying him. Now the problem is when I recall our conversations I get wet. There were times were it was him saying explicit sexual questions (are you a virgin, i want to kiss, I am in love with you such things) and other times we were talking in a platonic way. When I recall all of that (sexual or not) I get wet. And I was wet but I went on doing my ablution and pray. Did I do it right? Was I supposed to wash my private parts and change my clothes (because I was not wearing any panties) in the first place before doing my ablution and praying. Please help me. I have a voice in my head telling me that my prayers won't be accepted. And I can't stop rethinking about my conversations with that man which means getting all wet.  Help me please.

This is actually my son's question but I could not find a satisfactory quick answer. The meaning from the derived Arabic root H-M-D (to praise) is praiseworthy, commendable, laudable. src I am assuming his parents gave him this name, but his birth was 40 years before his call to prophet hood. How did his parents know he would be praiseworthy? But the 'praiseworthy' meaning would not be correct since all praise belongs to Allah. The first aya of the first sura says 'Al Hamdu Lilahi Rabil Alameen' 'Praise be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds' By the age of 6, he was orphaned after both his parents died. Did he have a different name at birth, and changed after adoption into his uncle Abu Talib's family? This could be a possibility since he might have shown uniquely praiseworthy behaviors even in his first six years. If we look it previous prophets, some had unique names but others had common names. For example, Musa (hebrew: Moshe) means 'come out of water' in reference to his being found in a floating cradle in the Nile. It is a unique name. In contrast Isa (ibn Meryem) commonly known as 'Jesus' original Aramaic name is 'Yeshua' (Joshua in English) was a common name among the bani Israel at that time. According to my understanding the name 'Muhammad' was not common among the Arab tribes at that time. The seera says the name Muhammad was assigned by Allah. But this is vague since all things come from Allah. How was this name assigned to him? I am sorry if I am asking a question with a simple and obvious answer.

([Sahih Muslim 523f](https://sunnah.com/muslim:523f)) How can we understand this Prophetic statement? How can we determine what is valid or invalid meaning? If the Qur'an and ahadith are comprehensive in meaning then where do we draw the line? I've seen many interpretations that people fall into confusion on which is true or false, exegesis or eisegesis, orthodoxy or heresy. I need help.
