I had a fried of the opposite sex for a very long time and I decided I would try to end things with them since it's haram. It didn't go very well and we both got very emotional and couldn't let go so we decided that I would talk to someone of the same sex and that person would forward online messages between us. I have a feeling like that's also haram but I just don't know how to convince them to let go of this friendship. I'm also struggling to let go of this friendship and I don't know how to completely stop thinking about it.

I was recently talking with a Muslim acquaintance about similarities and differences between kashrut and halal, and she mentioned something I had never heard before: in her family dairy and fish are separated, exactly as followers of Judaism separate dairy and meat, including not only not eating them in the same meal but even keeping separate dishes. I was fascinated to learn about this. She didn't know whether it was a commandment or custom or where it was sourced from, however, and a very cursory internet search does not turn up any more information. So, first, is this a part of the halal system? And if so, where is its source?

Is it obligatory to shave the head when doing Hajj?
I have shoulder length hair. Is it obligatory to get my head shaved bald? The reason I ask is because of this verse who says one shouldn't shave the head until the offering is done: > ... وَلَا تَحْلِقُوا رُءُوسَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ الْهَدْيُ مَحِلَّهُ ... > > ... Is it obligatory to get my head shaved bald?
The reason I ask is because of this verse who says one shouldn't shave the head until the offering is done:
> ... وَلَا تَحْلِقُوا رُءُوسَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ الْهَدْيُ مَحِلَّهُ ...

> ... And do not shave your heads until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter. ...
>
> Quran 2:196
**Question:** Is it obligatory to shave the head when doing Hajj?
*As a bonus, if it is obligatory, would it always be obligatory to shave the head or would it only be the first time doing hajj, or every single time?*

As far as I know, Muslims should have such names that people find them easily identifiable.
In some countries -
- Muslims are given such a name that people find it difficult to perceive his/her religion.
- Sometimes, it becomes hard to recognize their religion because of the language difference.
For example,
- Turkish names *Tansu Çiller*, *Hulusi Akar*, etc.
- American names *Linda Sarsour*, *Sada Cumber*, etc.
- Russian names *Mikhail Gutseriev*, *Nail Yakupov*, etc.
- Indonesian names *Megawati Sukarnoputri*, *Joko Widodo*, etc.
- Pakistani names *Gul Panra*, *Lal Shehjadi*, etc.
- Bengali names *Siddharth Sazal*, *Aaruk Munshi*, etc.
What does Islam say about that? Please answer according to Quran and/or Hadith.
**Note:** direct citation of Hadith and Koran needed.

But what if the person was married and got divorced, is it categorized as the first case or the second?
And also what happens if he commits adultery during his wife's iddah period (the 3 months period when he can still reconcile and can go back to the spouse), is it considered as the first penalty or the second?

> I leave behind me two things, the Qur'an and my example, the Sunnah

(alim.org )
But some people dispute it and say Sahih Sitta books contain hadiths about the **Quran and his Family**.
> ألا أيها الناس فإنما أنا بشر يوشك أن يأتي رسول ربي فأجيب، وأنا تارك فيكم ثقلين: أولهما كتاب الله فيه الهدى والنور فخذوا بكتاب الله، واستمسكوا به فحث على كتاب الله ورغب فيه، ثم قال: و**أهل بيتي** أذكركم الله في أهل بيتي، أذكركم الله في أهل بيتي، أذكركم الله في أهل بيتي
> "O people, I am only human, and soon the messenger of my Lord will come
to me and I will respond. I am leaving among you two weighty
things, the first of which is the Book of Allah in which is
guidance and light. Follow the Book of Allah and hold fast to it." And he encouraged us to adhere to the Book of Allah, then he said: "And **the people of
my household**, I remind you of Allah with regard to the people of my household, I remind you of Allah with regard to the people of my household, I remind you of
Allah with regard to the people of my household."

I am Jewish but I have a question about Islam.
My rabbi bought a bronze statue of the famed Greek pagan philosopher Aristotle. However, he does not consider it an idol despite what the Jewish philosopher Maimonides and Arab/Moslem philosopher Averroes says. He bought the statue because Aristotle is one of his favorite philosophers, as well as a rationalist. Aristotle taught Alexander the Great and later Maimonides and Averroes would inspire many when they later taught both Jews and Moslems Greek truths.
But isn't this a violation of the Decalogue which states: “Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness”?
Yes, it is. But my rabbi explained that most, if not all the biblical and fatwas commands were changed. For example, contrary to the second prohibition, all rabbis and imams allow making and owning pictures and statutes. Be it as it may, many ancient synagogues and mosques had statues like modern cathedrals today.
My understanding is that Islam says that Allah (G-d) forbids drawing pictures of Allah and forbids Muslims from depicting pictures or statues of Muhammad. However, many Muslims today own pictures of their families or loved ones and own statues of great philosophers. Some even have paintings of Jesus who they consider to be a prophet.
My question:
If Muslims and Jews can own pictures of families and statues of philosophers, why does the Qur’an forbids having a statue of Muhammad? I understand that G-d has no body and is one; and so it is impossible, indeed the Torah and Qur’an forbids to imagine any image of G-d, much less praise Him, but what is the harm in having statues of people, like Muhammad in order to dismiss any notions of divinity. Surely, you do not wish to place him on the same pedestal of G-d, for Muhammad was not incorporeal.
I say Maimonides and Averroes since both were born in the same city in Spain and both were rationalists.
To my understanding Jews do not prohibit statues or pictures of prophets. This is why I focus only on Islam, and because that is my question.

In this translation of a hadith attached to Imam Malik’s commentary:
> "if someone changes his deen, strike his neck!" refers to those who leave Islam for other than it - like the heretics and their like, about whom it is known. They are killed without being called to tawba because their tawba is not recognised. They were hiding their kufr and publishing their Islam, so I do not think that one calls such people to tawba, and one does not accept their word. As for the one who goes out of Islam to something else and divulges it, one calls him to tawba. If he does not turn in tawba, he is killed ** [Translation of the Muwatta Malik Book 36 Hadith 15 ]**
I am having trouble understanding what is meant by
> like the heretics and their like, about whom it is known.
Please explain to me in other words, what kind of Apostate Imam Malik is referring to when he says
>their tawba is not recognised

All the first names I noted are the names of Almighty Allah. Often I hear that such names are not allowed in Islam because those are qualitative names of Allah and we as human cannot expect those within ourselves.
However, adding an **Abd** is fine. For example, **Abdur Rahman** is OK because it means Slave of Rahman.
Is this a fact? What are the references?

I’m a born Muslim. I became agnostic for a few years but I’ve went back to being a Muslim again, alhamdulillah.
My family are also Muslim except my one of brothers became an agnostic and the other an atheist.
They are still good people and I really care about them but I worry that they will go to hell forever especially when I read verses in the Quran or hadiths that say that.
I’m also not a good Muslim myself. I feel like a disbeliever at times or a hypocrite. I told everyone that I’m Muslim but sometimes I question a lot of stuff about Islam (not saying there’s anything wrong with Islam, it’s perfect, its just me that has a hard time believing).
**My question is would all disbelievers stay in hell eternally? What about Muslims like me who have low faith or feel like a disbeliever at times?**
