Guardianship of Muslim women by men of a particular relative status is an important part of Islamic culture. I'm confused over this because on the one hand the word *guardian* implies the protection of women, yet in the West especially, it seems to be viewed very negatively as men deliberately trying to oppress women. In particular: does guardianship in the Middle-East predate Islam? If not, what motivated its development?

I have heard that chess is haram, I would like to know if it is? if its, than why is it haram? I have thought about it's possibilities of why it might be haram, and I came up with that you are wasting your time playing, but than I realized that you are not really wasting time because in learning chess you are learning strategy and that is good to learn. So my questions are, is chess haram? if so than why is it haram?

What is Islam saying about the Dunya, and what should be the intention as well as goal of a worshipper of Allah?

I would like to ask about all the authentic ahadith and verses from the Qu'ran (if possible) regarding the Dunya/Akhira (this world/hereafter), about wealth and its values/benefits in Islam. **—** Can someone share the collection of the knowledge (ahadith/ayat) in this regard? And, imagine someone worships Allah with the intention to achieve success in this world with a little consciousness of the hereafter, meaning that since the materialistic world is now the utmost reality (*family issues, financial issues, marriage life, calamities*) to him rather than the promise of Allah (*because he may be overwhelmed by the hardships that he has gone through or perhaps he wants now to become successful in this life also*), so he prioritises this world over the hereafter. **—** So what has Islam taught us to do concerning this whole matter? Or can you elaborate this issue with authentic evidence? I ask Allah to guide me and everybody around me, and to grant us the level of the righteous slaves of Him.

Forgive me, and grant me an authority that will never be matched by anyone after me. You are indeed the Giver ˹of all bounties˺.” **Qur'an 38:35** What exactly does placing a body on his throne mean? Is there an incident behind this verse? Can someone provide me with an explanation for it, preferably with a reference from the books of Tafasir? If there's a difference of opinion in this between Shias and Sunnis, a Sunni answer is requested.

Salamwalaikum, I intend on marrying a christian woman who has already been introduced and accepted by my family and her family knows of me too. I’d like to get the nikah done as does she as soon as possible so that we can meet and spend time together more comfortably. Although, I have come to know that the wali of the woman has to be of her religion being her father, although because of our young age and her father still not comftorable with her marrying a muslim, she cant bring up marriage around him as it will anger him as she has hinted at it in the past and it didnt go down well. What is the permissibility of me going straight to an imam to act as her wali or do I have to directly seek permission from her father and if I get a no slowly go down the list of possible walis for her. My idea is we’d do a nikah for the sake of making relations halal as her parents are more akin to dating and want me to be around her for a few years before marrying, which as a muslim I cannot do.

The Islam page on RationalWiki seems to be in a state where it's simultaneously edited by people who have a pro-Islam bias and people who have an anti-Islam bias. It's current form has a section entitled "Muslims apologetic obfuscation", and quotes the Qur'an: > Because of that, **We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely.** And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. > Qur'an 5:32 RationalWiki then writes: > So [the] Qur'an is referring to a verse in Jewish scripture, which is not the same as ordaining something to Muslims. My opinion is that this is an obtuse interpretation, but let's give this some consideration. **Question**: Is there a concrete reason that Qur'an 5:32 applies to modern-day Muslims, and not only to the "Children of Israel"? I've read various news articles quoting scholars quote this ayah as applying to all Muslims (perhaps after some terrorist atrocity). I'm also aware that there's other verses that prohibit specific kinds of murder (4:93 and 6:151 ).

As the question is general I expect an answer for all cases that scholars have discussed. Usually najasah is treated with water, and this is the major and primary solution to regain taharah. But there are other options, I'd like to know these options for cleaning najasah without water and when they apply? Please quote the scholarly view you are referring to in your answer, answers citing differences of opinion would be great. I'd also regard this question as a kind of compendium to my former question: https://islam.stackexchange.com/questions/46819/what-items-are-considered-najis-in-fiqh

Then he explained, he did not because if you eat less (according to Islamic principles) you will never get sick and will not need a doctor. *Note this para is only a reference, I do not need answer to this part* **My question is, did the prophet ever see a doctor**. It is quite normal that one can get sick and would need to see a doctor but on the other hand, the status of the prophet is so high that it is inappropriate for him to seek a doctor as God is with him and he is more knowledgeable.
