In school we learned that when Christianity emerged it had novelties that appealed to the common people and helped it spread. E.g. the Roman and Greek religions perceived the gods as wicked, at times cruel and selfish, and people have to subdue to that like they have to subdue to the kings/aristocracy. On the other hand Christianity claimed that nobody should be cruel, God is not cruel either, and for the good people there will be afterlife in heaven. This appealed to the common people and facilitated conversion. Other examples of theological revolutions/novelties pleasing the common person are "whoever is free of sin throw the first stone" (I should be forgiven), "if you have 2 shirts give one to your neighbour" (I am poor and deserve solidarity), "the last will be first" (There will be divine justice). My question: what were novelties of early Islam compared to Christianity, Judaism and other religions that helped Islam spread?

Is the hadith "I did not see anyone walk faster than [Prophet Muhammad], as if the earth folded for him" authentic?
From [Shama'il Muhammadiyah, Book 18, Hadith 116][1], we have: > Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu says, "I did not see anyone more handsome as Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam. From Shama'il Muhammadiyah, Book 18, Hadith 116 , we have: > Hazrat Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu says, "I did not see anyone more handsome as Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam. It was as if the brightness of the sun had shone from his auspicious face. **I did not see anyone walk faster than him, as if the earth folded for him.** A few moments ago he would be here, and then there. We found it difficult to keep pace when we walked with him, and he walked at his normal pace. It is not assigned a grade at sunnah.com. It reminds me of my earlier question which asks about Qur'an 31:17-19 : > O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination. And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful. **And be moderate in your pace** and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys." This makes me suspicious of its authenticity. **Question**: Is this hadith authentic?

What could be some reasons or explanations as to the enslaving of civilians (non combatants) in war?

It's quite obvious when it comes to combatants, but what about non combatants? One interesting and fair answer I got is since women and children are likely to lose their husband in war or see him taken as a captive, there would be nobody left to support them and it would only be reasonable to also take them alongside the combatants. But what about the male civilians for example like farmers, elders etc who didn't not take part in war and that should not be killed according to many scholars. These would be able to get by on their own either way, so what could be one way to rationalize their enslavement?

Our college made a policy recently which can be summed up like this: you have to sign a paper that says that you will be dropped out without questions if you are not free from LGBT. This is total restriction over LGBT, not LGBT sexual acts on campus or something like that. If found out (before or after graduation) the college administration will lawfully kick you out or revoke you. It shocked LGBT communities in my country because there was no such policy required before. The majority of my friends are under the assumption that it is a Muslim mission to prevent LGBT spreading given the opportunities (even by prohibiting their education). I don't know either. I don't even know if this question will be black and white amongst Muslims. Being an atheist, I solemnly believe that being LGBT should not be a reason for someone not getting an education. Our state's constitution embeds the right of education to people, not be seen for what they are. But it gets tricky when our college can have a policy on their own regarding this case. Is it lawful (in Islamic practices) for Muslims to prohibit LGBT people from getting an education? Does Islam has specific laws about this? If it is not, are Muslims required to do this?

Supplicating through the mind
Is it permissible and sufficient to supplicate to Allah ﷻ inaudibly? Like for example wishing for good unto someone or asking for forgiveness but doing so with the mind or heart.

He dreamt of sacrificing his son and upon waking he concluded that it was Allah command to sacrifice his son. How did he conclude this? It could have been very much possible that it was a Shaitan dream. What exactly happened that night in his dream? Please elaborate.

Allah is the cause of all things, and the creator of all things. Allah is eternal, never ending and timeless, with no beginning or end. Him and all of his attributes are eternal and never ending. This might help you understand this question. Do you understand eternality in the abstract sense, do you have any abstraction that allows you to understand eternality? To put it, eternality here means never ending , however its the timeless eternality, something with no beginning and no end, Allah has no beginning and no end, if something has no beginning you can't apply seconds to it to count how long its existed because that doesn't apply to it. Unfortunately I've argued with lots of really dumb people, so I'm just going to say right now that the fact I'm showing a seeming contradiction is showing that I am starting to feel Allah isn't real, because him being the first cause seems to violate the law of non contradiction. This post is showing a contradiction in the existence of a first cause, meaning maybe its not possible for it to exist. You might not get this immediately so look at the second paragraph and read again, for now just read this:can you get this: a first cause is eternal, meaning it is timeless, never ending. You can't apply seconds to it if it is eternal, all of its processes are eternal, its process of causation is also eternal,, all of its processes are eternal, and its process of causation is eternal, thus since its causation process doesn't end, it will continue to cause forever and ever, being eternal in the timeless sense, without a beginning and end. Now, I say this: if a first causes causation doesn't end, it will continue to cause and cause the exact same thing as its causation of that thing doesn't end, however, this means that the law of identity would be violated, because how can there be two of the same thing , if it continues to cause that thing then that would mean there are two things that are the same, but everything is equal to itself, it would go agains't the law of identity, so how do we overcome this contradiction? I thought of something like, non beings don't have properties, and this is important because of the fact that we can say that our abstract understanding is wrong, but then I thought of this: maybe we can't define the being abstractly since its trancendent, and other things but it seems i need help from smeone else on this. Mind you, an inherent aspect of a first cause is its ability to cause, and its actual act of causing is also never ending, inherent here means it exists as a permanent aspect of it, because we know causation is an aspect of the first cause that is inherent to it, as if it wasn't permanent it would mean it had an aspect that was added to it, which is impossible because is eternal and timeless and can't change. So its causation being an inherent aspect of it is also eternal, and the process, non timely process which takes place in causing it is also never ending.

Why Allah created Jinn?
I wanted to know if there are any mentions about why Allah created Jinns? Do they serve any purpose? Will they also be held accountable for their good and bad deeds? Are the rules applied to them are same as humans? Is there any book revealed for them as well?

Shaitan influence on Prophets
As we normal people are always being influenced by Shaitan to do wrong things and we try to avoid all those things to do following the rules, so similarly could Shaitan also have the power to influence Prophets as well in their daily life?

My friend asked me a question if Azaan from the mosque is a call for prayer to the people, then won't a call from a single mosque will do the job? Why does every mosque in the same local vicinity need to make the call for the prayer?

assalamu alaykum; so I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend. She is alhamduliLlah a pious muslimah, and wears hijab and abaya. Her husband has just started asking her to wear the niqab. She is a little irritated about it now, because the niqab is not something she is comfortable wearing now, and wearing it everyday would mean she'd have to change her lifestyle quite a bit. Also, her husband had never mentioned this expectation before the marriage or throughout the first year of the marriage. So, should she obey her husband and wear the niqab? and if not, how should she handle this?
