Age of Khadijah
I've often heard it claimed that Khadijah was much older than Muhammad. I've often heard it claimed that Khadijah was much older than Muhammad. To my surprise, I read recently that apparently there is some dispute about this, and she may have been just 2-3 years older than him. For a very quick reference, [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khadija_bint_Khuwaylid) lists 555 and 567 CE as the possible birth years of Khadijah, while Muhammad was most likely born in 570 CE.
I'm surprised about this because I do not recall having read any claim other than she was more than a decade older than him - admittedly, I've never had much interest in their marriage so I wasn't motivated to read up on it.
**Question:** What are the most important authoritative sources on Khadijah's age, and how widespread is the interpretation that she was something like 2-3 years older than Muhammad among scholars? Perhaps a few major scholars' names on either side of the debate would be interesting.
I'm looking for a Sunni perspective.

> Necessity means cases in which a person will be harmed if he does not take the haraam option, in which **the harm will effect the five essentials which are: religion, life, honour, reason and wealth**.
They give a collection of examples illustrating under what mitigating circumstances it is permissible to do an ordinarily haram act (e.g., eating haram food to prevent starvation). Religion and life make sense, as does wealth (to a certain extent [e.g., riba is haram]).
**Question**: How does harm to honour and reason fall under the adage "necessity make forbidden things permissible"?
I'm struggling to imagine a scenario where it would be appropriate to do something ordinarily haram to save one's honour or reason.

> Say, "Have you considered: if the Qur'an was from Allah , and you disbelieved in it while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar and believed while you were arrogant... ?" Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
According my understanding, an Israelite testified something from the Qur'an as truth against unbelievers.
Who was he and what exactly did he testify for? Or is my understanding about this verse incomplete/incorrect?

What is the 'awrah for men? Should a man lower his gaze on seeing another shirtless man?
Should I lower my gaze whenever I see a shirtless man, and is it **Haram** for me to look at him? And is it Haram for me to look at the knees of others because knees are supposed to be covered? I looked on the internet for an answer, but many of them had said thing which were confusing.

Was Prophet Muhammad (SAW) like rest of us humans inflicted by Satan and his whisperings? As far as I know, all of us humans have a Shayatin assigned to us who constantly tries to deviate us towards evil and tells us to commit sins. This is part of the test in this world. The test of Shaytan is so much so that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The shaytan flows through man like blood.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her)]
Did Muhammad (SAW) also have this influence of evil with him or was he free from it?

Should I pay my full zakat amount to a needy person in my family? Basically paying one person the whole amount of the zakat? Or should I divide it in equal parts and pay to different category of people. Like some part for the poor outside my family, some for the poor inside my family etc. Please help me on this confusion in the light of quran and authentic hadith.

I stumbled upon these teachings of the Prophet Muhammad:
> In a hadith narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (R.A) in which our beloved Prophet said "**Teach your children swimming, archery and horse riding**". In Sahih Muslim, the Prophet (s) said, "Practice archery and horseback riding." The Prophet (s) said "Any action without the remembrance of Allah is either a diversion or heedlessness except four acts: walking from target to target (during archery practice), training a horse and learning to swim." (Reported by al Tabarani on good authority) -- Sunnah Sports
>
> **Horse riding is an almost forgotten sunnah of our Prophet.** -- A Productive Hobby: Horses and Horse Riding, The Brunei Times (pdf )
(I presume this is a sahih hadith; it's mentioned frequently online.)
**Question**: What is the modern-day applicability of "teach your children... horse riding"?
Essentially, should parents be putting in more effort to teach their children horse riding? It's quite an expensive hobby and I'm unsure of the benefits of it in the modern world.
There's a hadith
> ...when I command you about a thing out of my personal opinion, keep it in mind that I am a human being... (sunnah.com )
so horse riding could simply be a hobby of Prophet Muhammad, and we needn't worry about teaching it to our children.

How do I know the difference between doubts and waswaas of shaytaan? In many Islamic websites, doubts and waswaas of shaytaan are two entirely different things. These websites say that Allah will forgive you if you have waswaas of shaytaan, but He will not forgive you for doubts. These websites also say that if you are suffering from waswaas, you are still a muslim. But if you are suffering from doubts, you are a kafir. Read what it says in this website: https://www.al-islam.org/qalbe-saleem-immaculate-conscience-ayatullah-sayyid-abdul-husayn-dastghaib-shirazi/fourth-disease
So according to this website, if you have doubt in your heart, you are a kafir and you good deeds are useless. This is what bothers me the most.
If you've read my previous posts, I said that I'm suffering from doubts. But most people are telling me that these are all waswaas of shaytaan and I should seek refuge of Allah. Now I'm scared. What if they really are doubts? That means I am a kafir. I don't want to be a kafir. If they really are doubts instead of waswaas, then what should I do? I read a lot about Islam but nothing is helping me.

Will God punish people for not being Muslim? If they ask for forgiveness, repent, and never repeat the same sins will they still be sent to hell for not being Islamic? Or if they refrain from drinking alcohol and give to charity, will they be sent to hell for not becoming a muslim?

My question is why is plucking the eyebrow or making your teeth shorter haram in Islam. I have heard that it is because you are try to beautify yourself and thus not happy with the way Allah has created you. However, make-up is not haram and it is allowed even though that too is done for the same purpose of beautifying yourself. Another person told me that makeup is adding while plucking is taking away from oneself. Again, we are allowed to take away other hairs from the face and even the hairs in between the eyebrow but not allowed to shape the actual eyebrow? Also in regards to adding, we are not allowed to wear hair extensions.
Also although having a beard a strongly recommended Sunnah, men still do not get cursed for shaving their beard. This too is changing the way you look by taking away what Allah has given you. It is too done for beauty purposes.
Why is make-up is permissible but shaping the eyebrow or filing the teeth impermissible?

A question on the preservation of the Quran
So in [Sahih al Bukhari 6829](https://sunnah.com/bukhari:6829), we get to know that the verse of stoning was not there in the Quran. Doesn’t that mean that the Quran is not preserved? Or is it that the verse was not meant to be in the Quran at the first place but the ruling was supposed to be there?

Is it Kufr to fight or kill a Muslim?

[Sahih Muslim 1676 a](https://sunnah.com/muslim:1676a) says
> It is not permissible to take the life of a Muslim who bears testimony (to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and I am the Messenger of Allah, but in one of the three cases: the married adulterer, a life for life, and the deserter of his Din (Islam), abandoning the community.
So in only 3 cases a Muslim can be killed. For adultery, for apostasy and for murder. However, in the case of murdering a non Muslim, a Muslim can’t be killed as said by the Prophet PBUH {source: [Sunan Ibn Majah 2660](https://sunnah.com/ibnmajah:2660)}
Which leaves us with the last case: A Muslim murdering a Muslim. But in that case, he would be committing kufr {source: [Sahih Al-Bukhari 48](https://sunnah.com/bukhari:48)} . That means he would be committing apostasy. So in that case wouldn’t murder and apostasy come under the same line? Then why are they mentioned differently?
