This may sound like a very philosophical question but my only concern is to understand what Islam says about intellect.
With so many Quranic verses and Hadith mentioning the importance of having a good heart and to use one's intellect, this question arises.
What is *Aql* (intellect) in an Islamic perspective and what is it associated with?. Is it exclusive to the heart or is it just as we understand, from the mind/brain?.
**Ps.** I am really interested to know if any great Islamic scholars have pondered on this thought.
Have checked a couple of questions on this site regarding heart and mind but they did not provide an answer for me nor does those questions are asked in the same context as mine.

Then washing the top part (front and back) of my body with soap and water, and then washing my private parts with soap and water, then washing the bottom part (front and back) of my body with soap and water. I then rinse my mouth 3 times and my nose 3 times.
Is this considered acceptable ghusl? (I am a woman if that makes any difference).

What to do when you have a emotionally and physically abusive Mother in Islam?

I am a teenager who is going through a emotional crisis. My dad 2 years ago got really sick and till now he isn’t really being the part of our family and daily life affairs because of his health issues.
So one thing to keep in mind is that I come from a really conservative, influential(the place where I live)and wealthy family I have seen other parents in my family who have dis agreed to even get their daughter and sons to get married because of property reasons. Some of them got married in secret because for years they had been begging their parents to let them get married as they have aged so much, some of them are over 35 years old and still haven’t got married yet because of their parents not agreeing.
In my case my mother started looking into all our family matters. I am a only child who was always adored by everyone around me but no one knew that what goes on inside our house. When I was young like 4 or 5 years old my mom used to slap me or get mad at me for no reason whereas my dad always used to calm her down so I don’t get hurt so because of this she always used to say my dad is spoiling me a lot.now that times have changed considering that my dad is basically bed ridden my mom has control over everything.
My mother curses at me all the time and says she regrets the day I was born and that if she knew I would turn out like this, a person who always adores her dads family more than her family side she would have killed me in the first place. I always struggled with my studies which resulted in my mother sending me to at least 3 tuitions at a time. She always had this narrative that I would never be like my other cousins and all and that I’m useless. I remember when I was young she always used to prioritise my other cousins and I would be left out.
Now that I am in grade 10 and entering grade 11 in just a short amount of time as I am done with my final exams i am still abused emotionally, psychologically and physically. I get slapped and get things thrown at me regularly, she curses the day I was born and that I should die. She prays to Allah that I get the worst situations and that Allah (S.W.T) would punish me for things I’ve not even done. We get into arguments all the time and I accept the fact that I also talk back but nowadays my mothers taunts and harsh words have gotten to the point that I cry in my salah all time and I even wish to die.
I am depressed but I still try to offer my salah regularly especially in the blessed month of Ramadan. As that is the only source which makes me feel a little bit better.
My mother taunts me about my looks and weight. I’m basically a laughingstock in my household, except my dad who actually cares about me but because of having a short temper I really don’t tell him about what my mother does to me.
I would like to get some good advice and would appreciate it a lot.

>Abu Dharr narrated: "We fasted with the Prophet, so he did not pray (the night prayer) with us until seven (nights) of the month remained. Then he (pbuh) led us in prayer until a third of the night had gone, then he did not lead us in prayer on the sixth. Then he led us in prayer on the fifth until half of the night had gone. We said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah! Wouldn't you lead us in prayer for the remainder of the night?' **He said: 'Indeed, whoever stands (praying) with the Imam until he finished, then it is recorded for him that he prayed the whole night.**; Then he did not lead us in prayer until three (nights) of the month remained. But is it only in the case of Taraweeh in the mosque? Or does this reward also apply if we pray at home until the imam finishes? I have a problem with passing wind so I fear that I might pass wind in the Taraweeh salah and lose the whole reward. I would like to know what the scholars say about this. As a layman I can just apply my logic that, "Oh, the hadith says about praying with the imam, it doesn't refer to congregation in the mosque so my question is answered." But often the scholars say different things.

Sometimes I ask Allah to send sakinah/peace in my heart for something that I'm praying for & He sends it and I immediately feel at peace but sometimes when I ask for sakinah/peace again for the same thing because of uneasiness in my chest, I do not get it so I ask Him if the opposite is true (opposite of what I'm asking) and then I feel like at peace for the complete opposite happening. So here I am wondering if Satan can give us a false sense of peace to cause us distress etc because he knows what we're asking from Allah. How do I know what feeling is from Allah and what feeling is not?
I'm just really, really confused. Any sort of guidance will be appreciated.

On first Ramadan i told my self to never masturbate. Around 3rd or 4 th day of Ramadan I made a promise to Allah before sleeping that I would never masturbate in my entire life again. At that time I was willing to make this promise. 16 days in Ramadan and after Iftar after 2 hours I broke my Promise. I did not want to break it but I got distracted to same nsfw stuff and just could not resist. I made a promise to Allah that if I ever broke my promise ten I would fast for 10 days and give money to the poor during these 10 days. As I broke my promise in Ramadan so I can still fast and now give money to the poor for 10 straight days. But I really did not want to break this promise. Everyhthing was going so good but today after iftar I just really wanted to masturbate. Now I am in deep guilt. I need to know Can I ask Allah to give me a second chance and I will not break my promise this time. Is this possible. Can I make a due in Isha to forgive me and let me continue my promise of never masturbating again just forgive me once and I will never masturbate again. And if I ever break break my promise than I will Fast for a month and give money to the poor for the whole month. Can i Ask this to Allah in Isha prayer while making a dua from my heart and then never masturbate again. I am firm in my decesion of never masturbating ever again.

I just want to know the difference between these two. Someone was actually arguing with me about non-mahram friendship and non-mahram love relationship and I told him that for me non-mahram love relationship and non-mahram friendship is equally haram no matter you love or just friends.
Am I right or wrong? Please give me reference from Quran or some proper reference from hadeeth. Because people so many times said we are just friends and this is not as much haram as boyfriend and girlfriend relationship. And they thought little haram is ok.
Please tell me the punishment or sin is equal or not?

Do we wash our feet or wipe our feet in Wudu?
Bismillah. Alhamdulillahi rabbil-'alamin. Was-Salatu was-Salam 'ala Ashraful Anbiya Sayyidina Muhammad wa 'ala 'Alihi Muhammad. ---------- My question is about Wudu prescribed in ayah [5:6][1]. [![enter image description here][2]][2] **According to this ayah, do we "wash our feet" or "wipe our feet"...
Bismillah. Alhamdulillahi rabbil-'alamin. Was-Salatu was-Salam 'ala Ashraful Anbiya Sayyidina Muhammad wa 'ala 'Alihi Muhammad.
----------
My question is about Wudu prescribed in ayah 5:6 .
**According to this ayah, do we "wash our feet" or "wipe our feet" ?**
Similar question has been asked before - Which one is the correct translation for Ayah 5:6?
But, I could't accept it to have been answered, because the user (@beautiful mind), who asked the question, gave the answer himself and marked it as accepted, and is inactive since long time ago to comment to him to clarify some issues.
Second reason I could't accept it to have been answered because of this video (The Sunni And Shia Sect CORRUPTED WUDU In The Qur’aan) which gives detailed analysis of the ayah (5:6) concluding that sects in both sunni and shia have corrupted the method of doing Wudu prescribed in the ayah. Arguments given in the video are strong, at least it effected me.
The problem I am facing concerns to the last part of the Arabic text from ayah 5:6 I gave above.
**Does it say "wash your feet" or "wipe your feet"?** This is my question.
The text from the ayah, given above, is very simple Arabic sentence, saying with terminology of Quran it is Ayah Muhkama, which means the ayah is plain and simple to understand. My problem is that I am not Arab, nor do I speak Arabic. I can only rely on translations which are many in number and contradicting with each other thus confusing.
Sahih International translation says,
> ...wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your
> heads and **wash your feet** to the ankles...
that is **wash your feet**. So this translation explicitly stating that **feet must be washed**, not wiped, whereas translation of Muhsin Khan says,
> ...wash you faces, and your hands up to the elbows, and lightly rub
> your heads and **(wash) your feet** up to the ankles...
that is the word **wash** is given in brackets which is wierd. Translations like Pickthall, Yusuf Ali, Shakir and Dr. Ghali are the same as that of Muhsin Khan - the word **wash** is given in brackets.
I have a feeling that they (the translators) are giving the word **wash** in brackets because of the certain sect or madhab they belong to. We know that each sect or madhab has its own rule - procedure of doing Wudu, some with small variations while some have larger differences and this is reflecting in the translations done by the translators, that they want the rule their sect or madhab dictates to be in the translated text but in order to remain honest they are giving it in brackets. If it is true then it will still remain dishonest translation and that means that the ayah actually saying that the **feet must be wiped**.
So, a non Arab like me can choose based on the number of translations favoring certain interpretation, but yet I might still be wrong due to missing something, something specific to Arabic language, thus it cannot be correct to do so all the time.
So my request is to Arabs in our community, and not simply an Arab but an expert to some level in Arabic language, grammar, please, for Allah's sake, explain what is going on here.
**Do we "wash our feet" or "wipe our feet" according to the ayah?**
What I am expecting is not a view of a Madhab but precise and accurate translation of the Arabic text above into English.
