A similar question has been asked here about transferring funds through PayPal but the purpose in this question is different: it is about buying something (or paying for something you are going to get in future) and not about pure funds transfer from one account to another. There are two main ways to send money through PayPal: 1. Sending money to friends and family - without paying any fees on any side 2. Sending money to pay for goods and services - only the seller pays a fee: **3.4% + fixed fee** (percentage and the fixed fee vary from country to country); the use of this kind of transaction is when you are sending money to a seller you don't know and you are not sure if the seller will actually ship you the item you agreed upon (could be over eBay, Facebook marketplace, or any other kind of market, as far as I know). If the seller doesn't ship you the item, or the item is does not match the agreed description then you have right to make a claim on PayPal and PayPal is going to refund you (whereas with the first option (Sending money to friends and family) this is not possible). Is the way number 2 of sending money through PayPal permissible in Islam? To me this seems to be somewhere between a pure funds transfer and some kind of insurance, but this is only my uneducated guess. Would the ruling change if we were in the role of the seller? Being the seller means you are the one who pays the fee. Could the Muqatta'at be interpreted as a semitic root?
I know there are numerous opinions on the [Muqatta'at](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muqatta%27at), and there is [another question](https://islam.stackexchange.com/questions/328/what-is-the-meaning-of-arabic-letters-in-the-begining-of-some-suras) already asked here on that topic. I know there are numerous opinions on the [Muqatta'at](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muqatta%27at) , and there is [another question](https://islam.stackexchange.com/questions/328/what-is-the-meaning-of-arabic-letters-in-the-begining-of-some-suras) already asked here on that topic. But there is a particular theory which occurred to me, and I wanted to know if there is any history of this theory in Islamic scholarship, and whether it makes any sense. The theory is that the Muqatta'at are actually roots (triliteral or otherwise), or else as words derived from those roots. Considering for example Sura 2:1 there is alif-lam-meem. Is that a valid triliteral root in Arabic? I know [in Hebrew it is a valid root](http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H481) , with a root meaning of "bind", and derived meanings of "silenced", "mute", etc. Doesn't الم mean pain, trouble, distress, etc in Arabic? Could this theory be extended to the other disjointed letters? Does the theory make any sense?

As-salamu alaykum! I would like to ask you to recommend me a good book on Islamic apologetics/fundamental theology. Especially, I would like to better understand the concept of Revelation and Prophethood and the proofs of the Prophethood of Muhammad (ﷺ), such as ’i‘jāz or Splitting of the Moon miracle; I have read something on it, but in a too scattered way, I would like to study this topic in a more thorough and systematic way. Is there any good and thorough scholarly work on this topic in English or French? I would prefer scholarly, academic works. Thank you very much for your recommendation.

After sexual intercourse I made ghusl the the way of sunnah and made sure it was valid. I put water over my hair, body, private parts (which had semen on them) and made sure I was wet all over my body. I only used water (no soap). After finishing my ghusl, I put on some clothes and then went to pray salah. After I finished with my salah I noticed that my penis was sticky. It turns out that semen and water react to a sticky substance (I did research on this). It is almost like glue and is very, very hard to wash of. After that I quickly went and made ghusl again, but the substance did not come of with only water. After putting some soap more than once it finally came of, and after my penis dried it was not sticky. Since I did ghusl with water and fulfilled all the fards (I put water all over my body, washed my private parts, etc.) was it valid?

There is a certain hadith in Bukhari that forbids women from becoming leaders. > No people who appoint a woman as their leader will ever prosper.” (Reported by al-Bukhari, 13/53). **My question is**, does it apply to the head of the state and judge or being leader/head in other places like office, business, etc? From islamqa org , they say, > As for other positions of authority, such as scholars and teachers, > heads and executives, managers, representatives, and advisors, even at > the highest levels, there is no Shariah prohibition to this, and women > have equal rights to such positions, as well as being entitled to > command equal respect and rights, including salary. > > Sayyidna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed Samrah bint > Nuhaik as the chief supervisor of the marketplace, and gave her powers > to carry out her role. It is said that ‘She would patrol the market > while enjoining good and forbidding evil. She would discipline people > with a whip that she had with her.’ [al Isti’ab fi Asma al Ashab] So, we can see Umar(ra)appointed a woman in an administrative post.

The Twelvers (Jafari school of thought within Shia sect) believe that Imam Al-Mahdi will re-appear at the day of Judgement, while a small faction (known as the Mustali's) within Shia's Ismaili (also known as the Seveners) community believe that Tayyib will re-appear at the day of Judgement, where both Imam Al-Mahdi and Tayyib are in what these respective communities call as occultation (i.e. not visible to the sight but exists). Since the Sunnis believe in the appearance of a prominent Islamic figure at the day of Judgement before the Isa re-appears (as based on a number of hadiths by the Prophet Muhammad), do they believe him to be Imam Al-Mahdi or Tayyib by this?

We are told that when people die, their body stays in their grave and their soul goes to barzakh where they wait for the day of judgement. After that people enter either Jannah or Jahannam. However during Isra' wal Miraj, the Prophet (saw) traveled to Jannah and Jahannam. I understand that the Prophets are in Jannah already as there may be an exception for them. However Muhammad (saw) also saw people suffering in Jahannam too. So my question is how or why were there people already in Jahannam when the soul waits in Barzakh after death?
