What is the source and meaning of this Ibn Taymiyyah quote used by ISIS/Daesh?

" فإن كان في التمثيل الشائع لهم دعاء إلى الإيمان وحرز لهم عن العدوان؛ فإنه هنا من إقامة الحدود والجهاد المشروع "

(I note that other sources indicate that 'الشائع' there, is a substitute for an original word 'السائغ')
Might anyone be able to further elaborate on the phrase above: its source(s) and meaning(s)?

How is Mutah (temporary marriage) different from prostitution?
This was a question asked by an atheist friend of mine and I couldn't answer him
satisfactorily.
**Edit:** The question is not about that its legitimate anymore but one would have to justify the circumstances (from a non Muslim point of view) in which it was once allowed. (From Sunni perspective)

If we [used undoubtable rationality to reach the undoubtable fact that God exists and much more existential facts](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalam) , then we indeed have to use it as well to reach the fact that free will exists, or else, it isn't reliable for finding truth.
Why I doubt that free will exists:
- Everything has a cause except for God, so, with enough knowledge, we can predetermine the future, which doesn't apply to free will, which states that our choices are indeterministic; thus, it is illogical
- I never felt that I have free will, I always find myself either driven into a choice or can't choose at all, I really have many choices inhand, but have to be driven into a choice, these are the factors on which my choices depend:
- Previous experiences and knowledge
- Biological factors
- Genetic factors
Is free will really logical or not? if yes prove it to me, else, show me on what matters logic can't be applied and why specifically these matters.

Can someone please clear up and explain these 3 hadiths about Umar and Ibn Umar. These hadiths make me see them in a different light. Also is doing these actions permissible in Islam? Ibn Umar seemed like he raped the girl in front of everyone.
Imam al-Beyhaqi records in ‘Al-Sunnan al-Kubra’ Volume 2 page 227:
عن جده أنس بن مالك قال كن إماء عمر رضي الله عنه يخدمننا كاشفات عن شعورهن تضطرب ثديهن
قال الشيخ والآثار عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه في ذلك صحيحة
Anas bin Malik said: ‘The slave-girls of Umar were serving us with uncovered hair and their breasts shaking”
عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ” أنه كان إذا اشترى جارية كشف عن ساقها ووضع يده بين ثدييها و على عجزها
Nafe’e narrated that whenever Ibn Umar wanted to buy a slave-girl, he would inspect her by analysing her legs and placing his hands between her breasts and on her buttocks”
Sunnan Al-Kubra, Volume 5 page 329
Mujahid said: ‘I was walking with ibn Umar in a slave market, then we saw some slave dealers gathered around one slave-girl and they were kissing her, when they saw ibn Umar, they stopped and said: ‘Ibn Umar has arrived’. Then ibn Umar came closer to the slave-girl, he touched some parts of her body and then said: ‘Who is the master of this slave-girl, she is just a commodity!’
Musanaf ibn Abi Shayba, Volume 4 page 289 Tradition 20240.

Even after hearing the ruling, I went with the opinion for a while that it was okay to draw people as long as you didn’t make their whole bodies, or as long as it wasn’t your intention.
However, now I realize that that is wrong, and I desperately need guidance on how exactly I should dispose of the pictures I have made, as I do not wish to be a part of those who will be punished.
I have already seen advice on what to do to ask for forgiveness, but I am asking for how I should dispose of the pictures. It would also be appreciated if I can know what I should do to increase my chances of being forgiven.

I have seen symbols on food in supermarkets and restaurants marking the food as halal. I assume that these symbols come from authoritative Muslim food supervision companies. I have also seen Muslims who are careful about halal eat in other restaurants and eat unmarked food after checking all of the ingredients. I also thought that all food was supposed to be considered halal until proven haram.
So, does food need to have a certification in order to be considered safely halal? If not, why do the certifications exist?

In my country, there are several Islamic Facebook groups (not fraudulent). Every 2 months or each month, they arrange Islamic quizzes (aqidaah, serah, quran etc.).
What they do is set a certain amount of participation fee and give a handful of money as prizes to the participants (first, second, or first 20, 50, or even 100 participants).
My question is, Is this competition haram? Is it gambling? I'm confused about its ruling in Islam; please share knowledge on that matter.

I was educating myself on the different stories of the prophet and in many of these stories, after the people still didn't believe in the words of the prophets (despite many signs), Allah destroyed the city. I was wondering how would I respond to someone who asks:" why would Allah destroy these cities just because they decided to not believe? I thought that this was the reason why there was a day of judgment so that after death Allah will decide if you go to Jannah or not based on how you lived your life. It just seems that Allah is not so merciful if he decides to destroy cities because they don't believe. And why wouldn't Allah destroy the cities of today, since they are much more corrupt now than before?"

>###Sahih International (translation )
Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example - that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, "What did Allah intend by this as an example?" He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient.*
What exactly is the meaning of this ayah? Is the supposed question 'Why do mosquitos or that which is smaller (bacteria, viruses etc) exist?' I looked into this a few years ago when I was first considering Islam (I have now converted, Alhamdulillah) and all I could find when I looked into it all that I could find were opinions and guess work of people who didn't seem to have studied the Quran or hadith, and had nothing to back up their claims.
Is there a conclusive (perhaps majority) scholarly opinion on this ayah? How can I understand it better?
