The tafsir mujahid ibn jabr has about five people in between the writer and Mujahid ibn jabr which disappointed me a lot. I thought it would be a book written directly by Mujahid before I started reading it, as the online Islamic library **[[maktaba shamela](https://shamela.ws/book/12810/5#p1) ]** attributes the book directly to Mujahid although its clear the book on the site is essentially a collection of athar going back to mujahid, athar with quite long chains too. I could not figure out who actually put pen to paper in the book listed by Maktaba Shamela and emailing them got me no response as usual. Does anyone know who wrote the tafsir mujahid that is extant in today's world? thanks and jazakallah

What is a "man of knowledge"?
I have read that it is normally expected and allowed that a man may marry a sayyidah only if he is also a sayyid, or if he is a "man of knowledge", but the sayyidah is not. What does this mean, a "man of knowledge"?

Translation of this particular verse?
Selamun aleikum, Can someone give me a literal translation of these particular verses (and add a little bit of explaining): Surah Al-Ala, Verses 4/5: >وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَىٰ >فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَىٰ I already know what is meant, but the translations are translating أَحْوَىٰ as black, how...

The word غُثَاءً also varies with up to many words in the translations. The translations varies in wording, I personally favor the literal ones, but I don’t know, which one is more literal. One of the English translations (Saheeh International): >(4)And who brings out the pasture (5)And [then] makes it black stubble. I only need a quick Arabic lesson here.

I do not mean anything like this and worry that this might make something horrible happen to them. My question is what should I do to stop these thoughts and whether I need to do something different as I keep saying Wallahi for horrible things in my thoughts. Thanks so much May Allah forgive us and guide us on the right path

Aoa I have begun to have mild OCD for the past few months and struggle whenever I am reading duas. For example, I read a dua to seek protection from trials and tribulations, which you read when you see a struggle or illness inflicted on others. I usually say the dua and then bless it on the rest of my family. However, these past few months, I find myself spending several minutes trying to make sure I said all my family members names' and repeat their names 10s of times. After I finish, I worry that I forgot to bless the dua on one of my family members and feel anxious and worried about it for a long time. For this reason, after the dua, I pray to Allah that he accepts my duas for all my family members and for those whose name I forgot to say. Please guide me on whether my prayer after the dua is valid and please explain how dua works in regards to whether you need to verbally say everything or if you can just think about the people you are praying for in your head. Thanks so much May Allah forgive us all and guide us on the right path

Assalamualaikum may Allah SWT bless you for helping me out because I am in great confusion. Once when I was being very guilty about my actions ( I was addicted to some sort of p***) I said to Allah that please don't let anyone see the phone's history (it was a family phone ) and I said I will never repeat this action again please don't let anybody get to know about it I promise I will never do that again. So does this statement make it a conditional vow or promise? Does it mean if Allah will listen my dua then I cannot return to the same sin again? meaning will I be breaking a promise or vow?

It'll soon be a second anniversary of my dad's death. I'm talking with my cousin who lives in Afghanistan using google translate and he told me that they will hold a prayer on that day. I was hoping to learn more about the significance of ritual. Here's how he describes it in Farsi: >در افعانستان هر سال ختم قرآن می‌شود به خاطری شخصی که فوت کرده باشد . باز ملا مسجد و چند نفر میاید ختم قرار می‌کند ثواب اش به مورده می‌رسد. یعنی به ماما ولی جانم برای پدر ات دعا می‌کند همه گی . در این جمع مادرم مام میباشد . خالیم شان میباشد . ماما هایم ام میباشد Google translates it to: >In Afghanistan, every year the Qur'an is completed because of the person who died. The Mosque and some people come to the end of the day and the reward will be paid to the case. I pray for your mother, but my father is praying for you. My mother is in this group. Empty is Sean. Mama is my mom. Which is leaves me scratching my head a little bit

What's up with that? I recall one of my Arabic teachers mentioning that it's not permissible to rewrite words in the Qur'an (for cases like this -- removing silent letters), because the sahaba all agreed to write it this way during the time of Uthman. (That's tangential, it doesn't need to be discussed here.)

I wonder, how many spellings and system of writings do we have for Quran? And I'm only interested in Arabic language. **Update**: Thank you for pointing me to the right direction. Now my question becomes as simple as: **how many rasm-al-mushaf do we have?**
