Are we obliged to reduce prayer when on a journey?

I have an issue. I thought so long, we could pray in full prayer length, when we have just travelled. Yesterday, Our Imam came from another region. In the prayer of Al-asr and Isha (I did not pray with him Magrib). He just prayed 2 rakats instead of 4. After the 2 rakats, we stand up and pray the last 2 rakats alone. I asked the question to another one about that situation and he told me, our Imam came from a long journey, so He prays 2 Rakats. My question is: Is it an obligation to pray 2 rakats or we can pray in full length?

I wanted to ask that can I pray before 4:46 to go out early and have more time to play? Also, I wanted to add that there is a Masid near our ground, but my family is not yet convinced to send me to the Masjid as there are many people there. Please can anyone guide me on this?

When Magrib time started, I was in travel. Options are - Since, I am not traveling, I should pray full for asr. - Since, I missed two rakats of asr, I should pray two rakats. Both point of view seems valid to me. Not that it matters much (its only two rakats), but is there any guidance available in Quran or hadith ?

I am traveling to visit family in Turkey, and I have with enough time to pray Zuhr, but not Asr, before I leave. The flight is a 12 hour flight straight from LA to Istsanbul, and thus I won't even get into Istanbul the way the time difference works until the next 5:00, meaning I will be flying during Asr, Maghrib, Ishaa and the Fajr of the following day. What should be done in terms of Salat? There most likely wont be room on the plane to do Salat standing and/or facing Qibla. Can one combine all prayers at once? The flight will be so long even if I pray Zuhr and Asr at the same time I will miss Maghrib, Isha, and the next Fajr, should I just recite Salat in my seat? Or pray when I get there? Also, I follow the Hanafi mazab, and I remember hearing that it is haram to combine prayers for Hanafi. If that is so, what should I do?

I do know that when travelling more than a said distance it is permissible to perform Jammu(combining 2 prayers) and Qasar(shortening prayers) accordingly as per the guidance. But what I would like to know is that; How about if you're working abroad and you're completely away from your home town? In addition to that; I travel in between the city too. As in, I travel from one island to another every day for work even though it is part of the same country. To make it more clear, I live in **Maldives**, a country which consists of 1197 islands if I'm not mistaken. Therefore, how will the prayers apply for me?? Can I shorten the prayers and combine or do I have to pray 5 times with complete raka'ats.?? This is just for my acknowledgement only & it can be useful for me at times to clear my doubts. But I do pray and still trying to pray all 5 times without performing any Jammu or Qasr. **To Summarize :** 1- How should I pray if I'm working abroad and away from family ? 2- How should I pray if I travel in between city and in between islands in the same country ?

We often perform صلاة القصر (salatul qasr) while travelling. But sometimes, while returning from the tour, it becomes confusing that am I still مسافر (musafir) or not. So, it seems to me to seek a better way to remain safe. If it is permissible to perform full صلاة(salat) when only قصر (Qasr) is فرض(farj) on me, then I could perform full صلاة(salat) to remain safe. Now, the question is very clear. Is it allowed to perform full صلاة(salat) instead of قصر (Qasr)? Note that, Simply yes/no is discouraged as it is not a discussion. Rather please, provide the evidence from القرآن الكريم (Quran) and الحديث(Hadis).

Someone travelling during Ramadan does not have to fast that day (but catch it up later); Qur'an 2:184 . Someone travelling can also shorten their prayer; Qur'an 4:101 . **Question**: If one shortens prayer for travel during Ramadan, must they also not fast? It seems inconsistent to shorten the prayer due to travel, yet not break the fast due to travel. But maybe I'm reading too much into this, and flexibility is intended. ---- To reiterate, this is the scenario: 1. We have someone who is travelling during Ramadan. 2. They don't have to fast that day due to travelling, but choose to fast anyway. 3. They shorten prayer that day due to travelling. It seems inconsistent, and I'm wondering if this is not allowed.

People in my locality are of the opinion that if you are traveling from one of your own properties in city A to one of your own properties in city B, Qasr is not valid. ie. The place you are traveling to must not be your own house/apartment/land/etc. Is this a valid clause or not? جزاك الله خير
