Does Islam teach that Joseph married Asenath? If so, does that mean he eventually married his mother-in-law? I cannot find this part of the story directly.
**Genesis 41:45 JPS**
> And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphenath-paneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-phera priest of On. And Joseph went out over the land of Egypt.
> וַיִּקְרָא פַרְעֹה שֵׁם-יוֹסֵף, צָפְנַת פַּעְנֵחַ, וַיִּתֶּן-לוֹ

עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.

Please see story of Prophet Yousuf and Zalikha on www.youtube.com "12:31. So when she heard of their accusation, she sent for them and prepared a banquet for them; she gave each one of them a knife (to cut the foods with), and she said [(to Yusuf]: "Come out before them." Then, when they saw him, they exalted him and cut their hands. They said: "How perfect is Allah ! No man is this! This is none other than a noble angel!" appears to be part of the story
According to some narrations that have been mentioned in the books of Tafseer (commentary of the Qur?aan), Yusuf (Alayhis salaam) did eventually marry Zulekha. (Tafseer Jalaalayn pg.194) askimam.org

How often is Jesus quoted in the Quran?
I have heard it quoted that "Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the quran." I was wondering about the legitimacy of this claim, just out of plain curiosity.

I am interested in researching the words of the other prophets as well as Muhammad PBUH, but I am unclear on who came before. I would like to know where people lost, confused, or abandoned their messages. Wikipedia has an entry , but I'd prefer Qur'anic verses or hadiths, of course.
Specifically, I would like to know
- How many prophets came before Muhammad PBUH?
- Who were they?
- Where can I find out about them? (Scholarly resources preferred)

I was looking for a bus station, so I asked a girl to show me (the girl was wearing full hijab; everything is covered except her eyes). She told me "let me walk you by, I'm going there too". When we were together I noticed that she was attracting men and drawing a lot of attention, even though she was covered more than me (I wear hijab but not full; pants and a long top). I got confused.
My question is: What is the real purpose of hijab?
Is it her fault that she is causing fitna? Do I get sins for not wearing a full hijab even though am not causing fitna (am not a very attractive person)?

I am hoping for some practical advice about dressing modestly in the summer heat. I've searched a few articles and mostly they only say dress modestly or stay inside, but don't really give specific suggestions. Few things that I am wondering, are for example:
1. What are good fabrics for clothing to wear in the heat which are lightweight and cool but also do not see through?
2. For wearing hijab in the summer, are there styles meant to wear that won't add too much insulation and heat to the head while one is outside in the sun?
3. For exercise in the summer, are there some suggestions on modest workout clothes?
Thank you for any thoughts.

**My question is, is there any evidence that 40 is the age of Risalaut?** As an argument, I can say that Jesus did not wait till 40 to become prophet. Also Moses AFAIK did not receive revelation at 40. What is the story behind the ago of 40 as the age of Nabuwat or Risalut. I can further argue that if the prophet was declared at an early age, he would have more time preaching the religion and thus fulfilling Allah duties better since the person will be in better health and will have more time preaching the religion.

My friend doesn't believe me when I tell her that hijab is an essential and important Muslimah item for humility and modesty. We both agree that wearing a hijab but sporting form-fitting clothes is pointless and hypocritical, but she says that you can wear loose, modest clothing and be halal without the hijab.
I'm telling her that it is not the same. Many men have said they've been attracted to women simply by hair, so you could still not be halal.
I'm trying to argue that attraction is not the only reason for hijab, but it's also meant to reserve your beauty. Why should you show yourself? Why must you show the beautiful Creation of Allah that is you? Don't you find it precious? Don't you hold it close to your heart, cherish it?
What is the liberation or reasoning of "being modest and halal without hijab"?
I asked her what the point of the hijab was if you could be modest without hijab. She said there isn't really one, it's optional.
How do I counter her argument? My points don't get through to her. Allah doesn't state something without a reason! How can she say "There's no point"?
If she is in the wrong, I would like someone pointing out the clear reasons of necessity of wearing hijab if one desires modesty.
If I am in the wrong, I would like to know, how can one truly show modesty without it? I am not trying to say that hijabis are all righteous and that non-hijabi Muslimahs aren't, but if one wants to be modest in appearance, I can't understand it.

Can Shaytaan appear like one of the Prophets?
As is known, Shaytaan cannot appear in our dreams in the form of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon Him): > مَنْ رَآنِي فِي الْمَنَامِ فَقَدْ رَآنِي فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لاَ > يَتَمَثَّلُ بِي > > He who saw me in a dream in fact saw me, for the satan does not appear > in my form > > [Sahe...
As is known, Shaytaan cannot appear in our dreams in the form of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon Him):
> مَنْ رَآنِي فِي الْمَنَامِ فَقَدْ رَآنِي فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لاَ

So my question is, are the other Prophets (peace be upon them) like our Prophet in the sense that Shaytaan cannot appear like them in our dreams? or is this only for Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon Him)

When a person claims they are seeing the angel Gabriel giving them a message from Allah, there are a number of possibilities:
- The experience is real.
- This person is sincere, but experiencing a mental illness.
- This person is manipulating the gullibility of simple minded people
that can't think for themselves.
- Other possibilities
How are Muslims to tell the difference between these possibilities, and therefore be guided towards a true prophet of Allah?

Is being recognized as Muslim one of the reasons for hijab?
As I understand, the primary reason for wearing hijab is because it's required in the Qur'an: > And tell the believing women... to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to... -- [Qur'an 24:31][1] Other reasons include protection, modesty, and no...
As I understand, the primary reason for wearing hijab is because it's required in the Qur'an:
> And tell the believing women... to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to... -- Qur'an 24:31
Other reasons include protection, modesty, and not being judged on beauty (ref. ).
**Question**: Is being recognized as Muslim one of the reasons for hijab?
This ayah partly supports this idea:
> O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. **That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused.** And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful. -- Qur'an 33:59 (see IslamAwakened for other translations)
However, I could be misreading it (e.g., it could mean "recognized as women" rather than "recognized as Muslim", as [if I understand correctly] it was common for non-Muslims to observe veil at the time the ayah was revealed).
