Some sources suggest that stoning is an Islamic prescription for adultery, but other sources suggest that it is not, and that only lashes are mentioned in the Qur'an. Due to the **Ayah [**[24:2]**][1] :** > The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual > intercourse - lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not > be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah , if you should > believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers > witness their punishment. Is this source a prescription for adultery or fornication? If fornication, then what are the consequences for adultery?
