Do Christians and Jews, who lived, before Islam was founded go to Jannah?

I've been trying to find an answer to this question because at the start of a surah- I forgot which one I think it was backarah or al-Imran- it said that Jews and Christians will be rewarded but then later on it said no one who isnt muslim will enter paradise.
