Exodus 34:35 has a piquant twist in some versions like DRA: >And they saw that the face of Moses when he came out was horned, but he covered his face again, if at any time he spoke to them. The ' horn issue' traces its origin to Jerome's Latin translation Vulgate, which is stated to have erroneously translated the Greek word which could mean either 'light' or 'horn '. Later, Michelangelo, under the patronage of the Pope, would make his famous sculpture depicting Moses with a pair of horns ! Now, a few writeups of recent times like https://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/daily/people-cultures-in-the-bible/people-in-the-bible/the-horns-of-moses/ give the ' benefit of doubt' to Jerome's translation , citing the reason that God ordained to project Moses as an equivalent of Pharaoh who wore horns as a symbol of divine authority. My question is : Has any denomination made a conclusive analysis of the theories justifying Jerome's translation of Exodus 34:35 ?
